Around 92% of New Year's Resolutions fail. How can we change that? Chances are, you've set some health and fitness goals for this year. How can we raise the chances of you being successful with those?

The Huffington Post says, "There are many reasons people can’t stick to their resolutions, from setting too many of them to getting derailed by small failures. Setting overly ambitious and restrictive goals ― like quitting sugar when you haven’t already been making small changes to improve your diet ― is one major cause of failure." 

Today, we're giving you some simple steps to following through on your New Year's Resolutions and making 2018 a year of great health and prosperity!

5 ways to follow through on your New Year's Resolutions

1. Adjust your expectations

When our resolutions are too ambitious, we are more likely to not follow through on them. We need to adjust our expectations and be realistic about our goals. Instead of promising to go to the gym 5 days a week, do it 2 days a week.

The bigger and more outrageous our resolutions, the more likely we are to miss them completely. Rather, change how you think. Don't shoot for the moon. Aim at what is achievable, and you are far more likely to hit it!

2. Make small changes

Radical lifestyle changes are rare to pull off and stay consistent with over a long period of time. We need to start small. Do 20 pushups 3 nights a week before you go to bed rather than spending 5 hours a week in the gym. 

Sooner or later, you'll burn out, and will end up on square one again. Be kind to your body, and start off with small changes.

3. Focus on consistency over Frequency

One of the best ways to ensure stick-ability and long-term success with any goals or habits is to focus on Consistency over Frequency. Rather than making 7 healthy meals a week for one month, and then quitting 2 weeks later, go for one healthy meal a week and keep that up consistently for a few months. 

Then after that becomes a habit, up your goal to two meals a week, then three, etc...

Winning consistently, even if the wins are small, encourages us to keep going. It's a huge motivator when we know that we are going in the right direction and winning at what we're doing. Start simple, start small. 

4. Forget about January - start today

Remember: you don’t have to wait until January to change your life. Every day is a new day and a new start.

Start something on January 27th, or February 1st, or any day! Today is your day to win big!

5. Be S.M.A.R.T. with your goals
